Sorry for the delay.

Hello all,

I have been horrible about keeping you updated with the latest in our little man’s life. It has been a busy time since our last visit. For Thanksgiving we flew to Neenah, WI to see Jenny’s grandparents. We had a great time as always. Turner did great with the flight. He was very calm and happy for the flights. On the way up there it was just Jenny and Turner as I had to work. Amazingly enough getting through security was very easy and much to the credit of TSA they were very helpful to Jenny and on our way back they could not have been more polite with making sure we had everything organized and handled according their regulations. Of course going through the airport with a baby, car seat, two suitcases, two duffle bags and carry-ons, we certainly looked like new parents flying for the first time. Turner is quite the flirt and he was making good time with the flight attendant (see picture).

Not too long after our return to Memphis, Turner experienced his first fever. He was quite fussy and milked being sick for all he was worth. He truly is a male in that regard. He was just pitiful 🙂

This weekend we had our second annual holiday open house. We both enjoy having our friends over to gather and relax. Turner continues to appear to be the social butterfly as he deftly avoided his nap and enjoyed being passed around to all the people. Apparently everyone we know is having or had a baby recently as our house was swarmed with knee-highs running around. It was quite the sight. Turner had some friends over as well and I’ve included those pics as well.

Another friend of Turner's. His name is Jaxon.

This Christmas will be our first in Memphis. Jenny’s brother is getting married in Atlanta on Dec. 30th and we will be meeting there to celebrate a late Christmas and of course Steven’s nuptials.

I promise I will be updating the blog on a more recent basis. I am in the process of learning how to use this blogging software to customize the blog so it will hopefully be more interactive in the near future. Also the web page will be tweaked as well. Hopefully this will occur within the next month.

4 months already?

Are you kidding me! 4 months ago we were at the hospital, in the middle of the night, waiting expectantly for our new friend to arrive. I can’t believe that it’s possible for time to go by this quickly. I know that everyone said this would happen. “Next thing you know he’ll be 16 and you won’t even notice where and how everything changed.” Heard it a hundred different ways. Everyone was right.

I wouldn’t trade these 4 months for anything though. Our little boy is incredibile! He is laughing and smiling and talking to us all of the time. He genuinely enjoys hanging out with Jenny and I as do we. The other night all three of us were sitting on the couch and he was looking between Jenny and me and would smile, babble, and reach up and pull my hair or touch my cheek. It was magic! I guess it’s nice right now because he depends on us for everything. And with this dependence he allows us to share in his growth and development. Of course he is helping us to grow as well. I was very sick two weekends ago. Imagine me getting sick….it’s not like I am around sick kids all the time…but anyways. I caught a stomach bug and was feeling very puny for about two days. This was right before his baptismal weekend. I didn’t want to touch Turner or even kiss him because I didn’t want to spread my condition to him. On some level I think he understood this. As Jenny was getting him ready to go to school I waved by and told him I was sorry I couldn’t hug and kiss on him like a normally would. He just laughed and smiled at me with this big toothless grin. I melted and felt complete warmth spread throughout my body. And then when they left back upstairs to visit the restroom again…

The baptism weekend went very well. I was able to finsih the major overhaul of the backyard in time for everyone to come over and enjoy the work that I did. We had about 35 people over at the house for an after baptismal cook-out. I guess about half of these people were actually at the baptism. We were all grateful for everyone’s support and encouragement during this time. Turner loved being around everyone. He seems to enjoy people and new events which, as I have stated before is a good thing. We had family come in town from NY, NY., Atlanta, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and places in between. We also had several neighbors and various other friends. It was an afternoon of good times at least that’s what I was told. As you know when you host a party you don’t actually get to attend the party. Maybe I need some pointers.

Anyways it’s getting late. I just want you to know that we truely appreciate everyone who attended and missed those that couldn’t. First Fever

This past week I was out of town for my annual PA conference. This was held in Gatlinburg, TN. My first night there, in the room above me, the kids from Hell decided that they were going to make their last night there one to remember. After three calls to the front desk and the clock striking 5am they finally went to sleep. My second night a storm moved in and created 106mph winds. This would be classified as a category II hurricane. Isn’t this what everyone goes to the mountains for? A nice autumnal hurricane? My third night my phone rings at 1:30am. Jenny calls and not because she is up to something. Turner had a fever of 101 degrees. She was obviously upset and concerned so I provided some phone medicine and the next day he saw his doctor and we think he might be teething.

His current weight is 15lbs 12oz and gettiing bigger by the minute. When I got home I hardly recognized him. He is geting HUGE! But he is still so darn cute and happy. Outside of Gatlinburg are either the Smokey Mntns or Pigeon Forge,which if you love fudge, outlet shopping, go carts and/or t-shirt shops you might find yourself in heaven. Anyways I choose the outlet stores. In particular Osh Kosh By Gosh. Man do they make some cute clothes for these kids.

I have no idea how to by clothes for kids this small. So I asked the sales lady and away we went. She loved me! After about 6 outfits sized for him to grow into (of course he might be through with these next week at his rate) she went to the “back”, which is code for “sucker” and brought out some Christmas attire for our little friend. I don’t know what Santa is bringing to him, but he will look good getting it that’s for sure. Is it bad when after you leave a store you hear the sales people cheer and give each other high fives and then you turn around and see that they put a “closed” sign on the door and took off for the afternoon?

The mountains were of course beautiful. The leaves were again in full color with a rich portrait of yellows, reds, oranges, and greens. The temp was cool and it did rain for two days. I love it up there and when I win the lottery I will by a little cabin somewhere and whittle away the afternoons, at least until the crowds leave and I can hit the outlets. The conference went well. This year I am on the state board of directors for our PA association so I had some “official” duties to attend to once these were finished it was time to relax, learn and catch up with some friends. I did manage a hike in the Smokeys and will have some pics up within the next couple of days.

It was a good conference but I was glad to get home and see my wife and son. They really are the two best people in the world…
