New Experiences

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

This was quite a weekend for all of us. Turner went out both Friday and Saturday. He appears to welcome new experiences which is fortunate since neither Jenny nor I are likely to be sitting around the house for too long a time.

On Saturday we took him to the UT vs Memphis football game. This is the biggest game of the year for the Tigers at least from a sell-out the stadium perspective. We parked about a mile away from the stadium and were fortunate to get that close. Turner cruised along with mom in his Baby Bjorn and I had the baby backpack. We were loaded up and ready for just about any baby situation that we could think of. Extra diapers. Check. Change of clothes. You bet. Toys, bottles, snacks for us. It’s in there. Camera. Of course… We walked along through all the tail-gaters and throngs of people going to the stadium. Turner took it all in. You could tell he was into seeing everyone and loved all the motion and the sounds. When we finally got into the stadium I think he was a bit overwhelmed and then passed out. He woke right before half-time, which was quicker than the Tigers, who never woke up for this game. Mom fed him during half-time and he was good to to go for the third quarter. He really is a good sport and seems to genuinely like being around people and taking everything in.

We must have worn him out as he slept through both Friday and Saturday nights without waking up. This is a first and a trend that I hope continues.

Hope all is well with you and yours. Keep in touch.

PJ

South Main Adventures

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

Turner went out on the town tonight. Every Friday at the end of the month there is an art district downtown which offers a late night tour. We had a friend who opened a new fitness training gym and tonight was their grand opening. So the Koltnow’s went downtown to get some culture. I don’t know how impressed Turner was by the whole ordeal as he slept the entire time. He did wake up in two galleries but quickly went back to sleep. I guess modern abstract is just not his style.

Yesterday Jenny had to work late so I got to experience the rush of day care pick-up. Let me tell you this is no small feat and certainly not something that you should just enter into lightly. It is a very regimented and organized dance that must be maneuvered with grace and ease. Both of which I was not to close to having. Fortunately the staff was on the lookout for me and made it very easy. Turner seems to love the place. When I got there he was relaxing in a vibrating baby swing watching some lights flash and bobbing his head to the rhythmic squaks of the play toy attached to the swing. He seems well-liked and the center’s staff is caring and friendly. He seemed to know who I was as he immediately began to squall as soon as I walked in the room. Nah…actually he smiled and laughed and made me feel like a million bucks. This dad thing is easy sailing right now. I am going to milk it as best I can because I know that it won’t always be such a cake walk.

Welcome!

Hello all and welcome to Turner Talk.

I can’t belive it’s been three months since we got introduced to our little man. He is changing everyday. It’s amazing to watch. There is this innocence of discovery in everything he does. He will watch his mobile while kicking his legs and squirming around with an ear to ear grin.

He loves being changed. And when he is putting on a new outfit he giggles away as we both go nutso over his cuteness. Ok we are unabashed proud parents. Who isn’t?

Things are going well with everyone. Turner has started going to daycare full time. Today was his third day. He is the youngest in his class which I think goes up to 1-year-olds. Jenny says that when he arrives the kids who can walk come up to him and wave. He seems to have a good time while there and is taking to the experience well. I get to pick him up tomorrow which could be quite an adventure.

Thanks for coming by and checking out this new blog on all things Turner. I will be updating this blog reguarly. So please check back often. This is a place for all of us to participate and share in all things family. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

All the best,

PJ
